In the middle of last year, SGB Czech Trafo launched a project aimed at expanding its transformer testing capabilities. Based on an expert assessment of technical requirements, the company decided to acquire a high-voltage impulse generator. The equipment was delivered a few weeks ago, and its installation has created a solid foundation for further development of high-voltage testing capacities. All measuring and testing equipment is supported by calibration carried out by a renowned accredited calibration laboratory, ensuring a high level of accuracy and reliability of the measured results.

The newly acquired generator is characterized by a high degree of flexibility in the configuration of its five individual stages, which can be arranged according to specific testing requirements in series, parallel, or series-parallel connection. Each stage is capable of generating an impulse voltage of up to 100,000 V with an energy of up to 5 kJ. The equipment is primarily intended for lightning impulse full-wave (LI) tests performed in accordance with ČSN EN 60076-3 ed. 2, while also representing a significant benefit for research and development activities. The new generator thus significantly expands the company’s technical capabilities and supports the continuous improvement of testing and R&D processes.

The reliability of our products is one of the key pillars of SGB Czech Trafo. In order to guarantee this reliability in the long term, we continuously expand our testing capabilities directly within our factory. The introduction of lightning impulse full-wave testing enables us to verify the key insulation properties of transformers under real conditions, without the need for external testing. This allows us to offer our customers a higher level of quality control, shorter response times, and the confidence that each transformer has undergone thorough verification prior to shipment.
