In the energy sector, reliability is a key concept. Equipment failure doesn’t just mean repairs – it means production downtime, losses, and often even safety risks. That’s why at SGB Czech Trafo, we do everything we can to ensure that every transformer we produce is synonymous with long-term, trouble-free, and safe operation. We are part of the international SGB-SMIT Group, the largest dedicated transformer manufacturer in Europe. This allows us to draw on rich international know-how and share experience, technical standards, and proven practices with colleagues from Germany, the Netherlands, India, the USA, and other countries. Our work combines local flexibility with global stability and the support of a strong group.

At the core of our reliability lies our in-house development and engineering, which takes place directly at our factory site. As a result, we have full control over every new design or product adaptation and can respond quickly to new demands. Each design undergoes thorough testing and practical validation. In partial discharge tests, for example, we achieve extremely low values well below the standard limits, contributing to the long service life of the insulation and the entire transformer. Our engineers have many years of experience and a strong connection to production, ensuring that their work performs reliably even under demanding conditions.

A well-thought-out product with practical details

At SGB Czech Trafo, it’s not just about performance or design – we believe that reliability often lies in the small but crucial details. We work exclusively with proven suppliers who share our commitment to quality and precision, and we actively participated in the development of transformer enclosures manufactured in the Czech Republic, which today set the standard in terms of safety and compatibility. Based on customer feedback, we developed integrated side-lift forklift profiles, significantly simplifying on-site handling.

Our products are manufactured using our modern Gravity Line production system, designed for efficient and repeatable delivery of dry-type transformers. Here, we also produce our latest Gravity Compact series with oval windings – transformers that are more space-saving, lighter, have a lower carbon footprint, and still meet all key safety and performance criteria. These transformers are also nearly maintenance-free – robust design, high-quality components, and precise manufacturing ensure long-term operation without the need for regular intervention.

Customers appreciate not only the technical quality but also our flexibility – if a customer needs an adaptation of a standard product, we can implement it without disrupting the rhythm of lean manufacturing. Whether it’s adjusting dimensions, connection points, or integrating specific accessories – we provide solutions that work without lengthy development processes or quality compromises. For us, reliability doesn’t mean that everything stays the same – it means that everything works, even when something needs to change.

A service partner that won’t leave you waiting

Our reliability doesn’t end with the handover of the transformer. Thanks to our own service team and the backing of the SGB-SMIT Group, we offer fast technical support and service across Europe. Whether it’s diagnostics, preventive maintenance, upgrades, or consulting – our team is ready to respond quickly, professionally, and effectively.

And with an exceptionally low failure rate – just 6 defective units out of more than 6,260 transformers produced since 2016 – our customers can rely on the fact that they probably won’t need our service at all. But if the need arises, we understand the importance of speed and availability.

Reliability for us is not just about quality technology. It’s daily routine, teamwork, thorough testing, thoughtful design, trusted suppliers, and truly listening to our customers. Whether you’re an industrial plant, a data center, or part of critical infrastructure – SGB Czech Trafo is a partner you can rely on, from the very first contact to years of operation.
